As I said before, Lough Atalia has problems. However, most of them can be solved. To solve Lough Atalia's problems, we must :
1.Put up Litter Notices and Bins
To solve the litter problem, there should be more bins around the lake for easy disposable of rubbish because when I came to the lake, I didn't see many bins around the lake. This could be the reason why people drop their rubbish in the lake, as shown before.
2. Remove the Japanese Knotweed ASAP
To solve the Japanese Knotweed problem, the government should get rid of the weed immediately. This type of weed has a bad influence on the neighbouring plants, and causes the soil to lose its minerals and vitamins. However, this might be hard to do as Japanese Knotweed has a big root system, which could mean the whole area with the weed to be excavated.
3. Reduce our use of fossil fuels
To reduce the impact of domestic and industrial effects from Galway City, we should reduce our use of fossil fuels. The lake is considered polluted due to fossil fuels. Take a walk or cycle instead of using a car that runs on diesel or fuel, or switch to using electric cars.
